8:00am-8:50am:  From A to Zinc for AMD by Spencer Johnson, OD COPE ID: 75015-PS This course reviews the prevalence, stages, and risk factors of AMD. Novel methods of assessing risk and diagnosing AMD are discussed. Current imaging technology for AMD is examined, and nutritional supplementation recommendations are analyzed. (1 hour) (Location: Grand Ballroom 1-2)

9:00am-9:50am:  You Were Expecting Viral Conjunctivitis by Spencer Johnson, O.D. COPE ID: 75012-AS This course critically examines traditional diagnostic approaches to viral conjunctivitis, as well as evaluating emerging diagnostic technology. Foundational morphological and functional characteristics of viruses are reviewed with specific emphasis on the adenovirus and its role in eye disease. Current and emerging treatment strategies are examined to enhance the clinician’s ability to diagnose and treat adenoviral conjunctivitis. (1 hour) (Location: Grand Ballroom 1-2)

10:30am-11:20am: Headache Assessment In Primary Eye Care by Spencer Johnson, O.D. COPE ID: 75017-NO This course is designed to enhance the optometrist’s ability to assess headaches in the primary eye care setting. Current classification of headaches is reviewed. Headache signs and symptoms that indicate a serious etiology are examined. Workup of the headache patient is discussed. Headaches that have an ocular etiology, are vision threatening, or have ocular manifestation are emphasized. (1 hour) (Location: Grand Ballroom 1-2)

12:30pm-1:20pm:  ACE: Shooting Pearls: SLT, LPI, and YAG Capsulotomy by Spencer Johnson, O.D. COPE ID: 75150-LP A growing number of optometrists are now able to perform laser procedures for their patients. This course discusses who is a good candidate for each procedure, reviews pre- and post-operative management, and shares pearls in performing the procedures to minimize complications and maximize outcomes for patients. (1 hour) (Location: Grand Ballroom 1-2) *Counts toward APC credentialing credit

1:40pm-3:20pm: Lids and Lashes on the Cutting Edge by Spencer Johnson, O.D. COPE ID: 74880-SP This course features advanced procedures that optometrists have been performing for several years to treat benign and malignant neoplasms, cysts, hordeola, chalazia, trichiasis, blepharospasm, distichiasis, entropion, and dry eye via punctal occlusion. Lid anatomy is reviewed. An overview of the technology used in these procedures is discussed. Videos of procedures are used to enhance learning and demonstrate technique. 3:40pm-4:30pm: Glaucoma Diagnosis and Management - Pearls from a Specialist by Austin Bell, M.D.  A range of topics will be covered from diagnosis and management to long term post surgical monitoring. Topics include: OCT diagnostic pearls, visual field interpretation, glaucoma subtype discussion, and how to prepare patient expectations for a referral for MIGS.(1 hour) (Location: Grand Ballroom 1-2)

4:45pm-5:35pm: Arkansas Jurisprudence (AR State Board approved) by the Arkansas State Board of Optometry. This course meets the requirement for jurisprudence education. (1 hour) (Location: Grand Ballroom 1-2)

5:45: CPR Renewal *must pre-register.  Class will only meet if there is a minimum of 10 registrations.

8:00am-9:40am: Retinal Findings with Systemic Disease by Jeffry Gerson, O.D. COPE ID: 75796-PS This course will discuss the retinal findings seen with different systemic diseases. The course will cover not only the retinal perspective, but also the systemic perspective causing the changes to the eyes. Appropriate referrals to other eye care professionals and to general medical professionals will be discussed. Practical approaches to discussing these conditions with patients will be addressed in order to give the attendee pearls to use in practice. (2 hours) (Location: Grand Ballroom 1-2)

9:50am-11:30am AMD Current Science and Trends in Diagnosis and Treatment by Jeffry Gerson, O.D. COPE ID: pending The science of AMD is evolving quickly, and so are standards for diagnosis and treatment of AMD patients. This course will discuss todays trends based on research and how it applies to our patients. Earlier diagnosis and treatment will be stressed, along with pipeline potentials for atrophic and wet AMD. (2 hours) (Location: Grand Ballroom 1-2)
