LIVE EVENT: January 27, 2018

8am-12pm                 ICD-10 and Coding Updates with John McGreal, OD    

Billing & Coding COPE#50349-PM (1 hr) This class will review the basics of CPT, documentation guidelines and new incentive programs.

 Implementing New & Revised ICD-10 Codes COPE#51016-PM (1 hr ) This class will review the latest CMS changes to diagnostic coding for all healthcare claims. New, deleted and revised codes will be discussed.

 Navigating Payment Reform Understanding MIPS COPE#53280-PM (1 hr ) This class will review CMS changes to Medicare Physicians payments, it will outline profound changes to the quality program, introduce advancing care information and help attendees develop individualized plans for participation.

New Ideas in Glaucoma Management COPE#51012-Gl (1 hr) This class will discuss the latest trends in glaucoma diagnosis and treatments, surgical modalities and emerging trends on diagnostics will be discussed.

 12:30pm-1:30pm       Excellence in Compliance/MIPS  COPE#54079-PM (1 hr) Joe DeLoach, OD Practicing optometrists are faced with significant responsibilities to comply with State and Federal laws related to patient privacy, patient protection, fraud and abuse and quality reporting. Government enforcement of HIPAA, OSHA, HR and Fraud and Abuse laws is at an all-time high. Providers are also being asked to go above and beyond normal medical record documentation to substantiate provision of quality care MIPS. The presentation will provide optometrists with the base knowledge necessary to protect their practices by being compliant with HIPAA, OSHA, HR, Fraud and Abuse and quality reporting systems.

1:45pm-3:45pm         Healthcare Reimbursements: Just the Facts!  COPE#49802-PM Joe DeLoach, OD (2 hours) Overview of health care reimbursement systems, how healthcare providers have caused the new age of audits, why you are likely to get audited and why you are likely to lose an audit.

3:45pm-4:45pm         Navigating the MMIS Portal - Provider Health Portal Training (1 hr)  Karen Young, MMIS Trainer & Developer AFMC This course will go over step-by-step instructions in a live demonstration on how to navigate the MMIS provider portal, focusing on eligibility, payment, insurance, updates and other frequently asked questions.  The course is designed to focus on the portal, not specific billing questions.

 McGreal Coding: Learn More, Earn More  This 4-hour COPE approved education focuses on the priorities of the year in  coding, billing and compliance, and a deep dive into changes in coding for glaucoma. Dr. John McGreal presents information in a logical format that makes it easier for you & your staff to understand and implement.

(2 hours) COPE Pending  $295 BILLION dollars of health care fraud later, payers have had enough.  It's time to concentrate on the facts of health care reimbursement.  The most important concepts for all optometrists to understand are:  WHY will I be audited, and, HOW do I successfully survive that inevitable audit.  Treading these dangerous waters requires a clear understanding of the underlying principles of medical necessity and medical records documentation.  This presentation will concentrate on doing the right thing for the right reason. Navigating the MMIS Portal - Provider Health Portal Training  A one-hour demonstration with practical guidance and tips on how to navigate the new MMIS portal, focused on eligibility, prior authorizations, billing other insurances, and much more.  Please submit any questions that you would like answered to vicki@arkansasoptometric.org.  Please note that this hour is focused on the portal, not on billing questions.  Presented by Karen Young, MMIS Training & Program Developer, AFMC
